[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Korea, challenging for the first-ever away World Cup quarterfinal, showed a struggling appearance as they conceded 4 goals to world No.1 Brazil in the first half.

The Korean national football team, led by coach Paulo Bento, collapsed under Brazil's offensive throughout the first half in the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup Round of 16 match held on the 6th (Korean time) at the 974 Stadium in Doha, Qatar, ending the first half trailing 0-4.

Right from the start of the match, Brazil scored the opening goal in the 7th minute of the first half when Raphinha (Barcelona), who broke through the right flank, bypassed Korean defenders and delivered a ground cross to the left flank to Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid).

They conceded an additional goal in the 13th minute of the first half. During a ball contest inside the penalty area with Jung Woo-young (Al Sadd), Richarlison (Tottenham) was fouled and fell, resulting in a penalty kick. Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain) took the penalty and scored against Korea's goal.

Then, in the 29th minute of the first half, Richarlison (Tottenham) added another goal with brilliant individual skill. Receiving a through pass from Thiago Silva (Chelsea), Richarlison connected with a shot, conceding the third goal.

The relentless offensive continued. In the 36th minute of the first half, Vinicius delivered a cross that Lucas Paqueta (West Ham) converted into a shot, recording the fourth goal.

Brazil's attacks persisted even in added time of the first half. During a counterattack, Richarlison broke through the Korean defense and shot towards the goal, but Kim Seung-gyu (Al Shabab) made a save, preventing further goals.

Equipped with brilliant individual skills, Brazilian players easily broke down the Korean defense. Korea, attempting a counterattack centered on Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton), failed to open Brazil's goal and ended the first half.
