[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Japan's advancement to the World Cup quarterfinals was thwarted.

On the 6th (Korean time), Japan played against Croatia in the Round of 16 at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Qatar, during the 2022 Qatar World Cup. After a 1-1 draw through extra time, Japan lost 1-3 in the penalty shootout.

Japan's first, second, and fourth kickers were all stopped by the opposing goalkeeper, resulting in a disappointing loss.
