‘Active Dividend Fund’ Best Fund Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] KB Asset Management received the Best Fund Award at the 2022 Capital Investment Awards for its ‘KB Active Dividend Fund’.
The KB Active Dividend Fund, launched in August 2010, is an equity dividend fund with a cumulative return of 140% since its inception. This performance surpasses that of the KOSPI. The fund primarily invests in domestic stocks with relatively high dividend yields, aiming to pursue both dividend income and capital gains simultaneously.
This fund is an active-type fund where the fund manager actively includes stocks with high industry attractiveness and corporate competitiveness. As a result, it can selectively pick large dividend stocks to generate excess returns. In the past, listed companies focused their dividends at year-end, but recently, with increases in both dividend size and frequency, dividend investing has gained attention as a year-round investment alternative. Especially during times of interest rate and economic concerns causing high volatility, dividend stocks can provide stable returns.
As of the 5th of last month, the major holdings include Samsung Electronics, the largest domestic company by market capitalization, accounting for 18.09%. This is followed by SK Innovation (3.98%), SK Hynix (3.83%), LG Energy Solution (3.82%), Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (3.01%), Hyundai Motor 2 Preferred B (2.73%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (2.41%), and Samsung Life Insurance (2.18%). The fund prioritizes dividends by increasing the proportion of high-dividend financial stocks such as large preferred shares, compared to a typical fund portfolio.
