[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] ACi Co., Ltd. announced on the 5th that it held a ceremony on the 2nd to receive a nameplate and research institute company registration certificate from Korea Electric Power Technology.
This event was held to commemorate the registration of Korea Electric Power Technology's first research institute company and to continue a sustainable win-win cooperation relationship. Attendees included ACi CEO Kim Ilkwon, Park Sungjoo, Head of Future Strategy Planning at Korea Electric Power Technology, and Oh Younghwan, Head of Daegu Special Zone at the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation.
ACi, after receiving consulting support from Korea Electric Power Technology and the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation, contributed technology for a wet carbon dioxide capture facility patent (Patent No. 10-1874068) and was finally approved by the Ministry of Science and ICT to establish a research institute company.
Having already filed patents on the concept of attaching a carbon extractor to the CCS process to reduce carbon dioxide and on an exhaust gas emission device for ships to which the carbon extractor can be attached, ACi plans to advance related research and accelerate the development of the carbon extractor.
A company representative stated, "ACi will collaborate with researchers from Korea University and, with support from Korea Electric Power Technology, overcome Korea's lagging technology in the CCUS market with new technology and become a company that injects momentum into the market."
Park Sungjoo, Head of Future Strategy Planning at Korea Electric Power Technology, said, "We hope that ACi, which possesses eco-friendly carbon extractor technology, will integrate Korea Electric Power Technology's research achievements and become a leading company addressing global climate change," adding, "We also hope this will be an opportunity for Korea Electric Power Technology to fulfill its social responsibilities as a public enterprise through win-win cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises in collaboration with the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation."
