Ministry of SMEs and Startups Conducts Regular Survey on Consignment and Subcontract Transactions

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young) announced that it will conduct the "2022 Regular Survey on Consignment Transactions" starting from the 6th to address unfair trade practices occurring in the consignment and subcontracting transactions between companies.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has been conducting regular annual surveys on consignment and subcontracting transactions since 1996, and this year's survey will target 3,000 consignment companies and 12,000 subcontracting companies.

The ministry explained that this survey will cover overall unfair trade practices between companies in consignment and subcontracting transactions conducted in the first half of this year, such as non-payment of delivery fees and failure to issue agreements.

The survey will be conducted in three main stages: Stage 1 - Investigation of consignment companies' transaction status, Stage 2 - Survey of subcontracting companies, and Stage 3 - On-site investigation of companies suspected of unfair trade practices. Companies found to be in violation of the Win-Win Cooperation Act based on the survey results will be subject to administrative actions such as improvement demands.

In particular, this survey will be linked with the activities of the "Software (SW) Unfair Practices Monitoring Support Team," jointly promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Fair Trade Commission, to focus on investigating unfair trade practices occurring in consignment and subcontracting transactions in the software sector.
