Youth Family Care Support Project ... Recognized as an Excellent Model of School-Government Cooperation
The team from the Marine Convergence Design Research Institute at National Pukyong National University, who received the Grand Prize, the Presidential Award, at the National Policy Design Excellence Project Performance Sharing Conference.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The public policy project jointly conducted by Pukyong National University and Yeongdo-gu, Busan, received the grand prize, the Presidential Award, at the ‘2022 National Policy Design Excellence Project Performance Sharing Conference.’
At this recent event held by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the KW Convention Center in Daejeon, the project titled ‘Young Carer, a Good Friend Yeongdojigi Helping Family Care Youth’ won the grand prize.
At the conference, among 103 policy projects carried out over the past year by central administrative agencies and local governments’ National Design Teams, 10 excellent projects that passed expert and public online evaluations were presented and awarded.
The grand prize-winning ‘Yeongdojigi’ project operates a service that allows impoverished youth who face difficulties in academics and employment due to family caregiving to comfortably meet with experts in law, medical care, administration, and career fields at their preferred times, addressing the root cause of welfare blind spots?lack of time.
This project was evaluated positively for producing and distributing promotional materials to identify impoverished youth supporting families in welfare blind spots, developing and utilizing an integrated application that allows easy searching of support providers, and conducting diagnosis and analysis for customized services without time constraints, thereby providing tailored support programs according to each situation.
The project was implemented by the National Design Team composed of Dongho Kim, adjunct professor at Pukyong National University’s Marine Convergence Design Research Institute (Director Jo Jeong-hyeong) and CEO of Design Tomorrow, researchers including students Ahryeong Kang, Soyoon Choi, and Yeojeong Kim, along with Yeongdo-gu, Busan, the Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, the Senior Welfare Center, and the Regional Self-Support Center, and was recognized as an excellent model of academia-government cooperation.
