Kolon Conducts 'Blood Donation Supply Shortage Overcoming Campaign' with Employee Participation

Kolon Group has been conducting sequential blood donations by employees at six business sites nationwide, including the 'Kolon One&Only Tower' in Magok, Seoul, from the 29th of last month until the 15th of this month. [Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] Kolon Group employees announced on the 5th that they are participating in a blood donation campaign to help overcome the blood supply shortage caused by COVID-19 and the winter season.

The 'Donate Blood and Have a Year-End Party' campaign started on the 29th of last month at the Daejeon Kolon Pharmaceutical plant and will be sequentially held at six sites nationwide, including Magok, Gwacheon, Gimcheon, and Gumi, until the 15th. All blood donation locations strictly adhere to COVID-19 prevention guidelines during the campaign.

One of Kolon's representative social contribution programs, the blood donation campaign, has been conducted twice a year every summer and winter since 2013. Because blood cannot be stored for a long time, continuous blood donation is necessary to maintain an adequate blood supply. However, blood donors sharply decrease seasonally in summer and winter, which is taken into consideration. Despite the prolonged COVID-19 situation making blood supply more difficult, Kolon continues the employee blood donation campaign in a safe manner.

Kolon donates the blood donation certificates collected from participating employees to children suffering from pediatric cancer. This year, the collected certificates will be donated to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation, and since 2013, Kolon has donated a total of about 5,800 blood donation certificates.
