[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong County in Jeonnam announced on the 5th that it has finalized the selection of this year’s ‘Top 10 Best Policies’ through surveys of residents and public officials.
The first place was awarded to the provision of the daily recovery support fund and emergency disaster relief fund for all residents, followed by the ‘Jangseong Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival’ held again after three years, a threefold increase in the budget for town and township civil complaints, and the expansion of the department’s own contract scope.
Previously, the county selected 15 candidates based on the contribution to county administration development and department head surveys from the department recommendations. Then, through online and offline voting participated by 1,404 residents and public officials, the top 10 were selected in order of the highest votes.
The first-place policy, ‘Provision of daily recovery support fund and emergency disaster relief fund for all residents,’ was a policy promoted by Jangseong County to comfort residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to revitalize the stagnant economy.
The emergency disaster relief fund was 200,000 KRW, and the daily recovery support fund was distributed as 300,000 KRW worth of local currency, the Jangseong Love Gift Certificate.
In total, every resident of Jangseong County benefited from about 500,000 KRW worth of support this year alone. With a high payment rate (98%), it became a catalyst for the recovery of the local economy.
The ‘Jangseong Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival,’ which made a splendid comeback last October after a three-year wait, also received high votes.
With tens of billions of autumn flowers, attractive night views, and unique experiences such as the moon boat, it was praised as a festival that advanced to be enjoyed not only during the day but also at night.
The fact that various foods could be enjoyed at reasonable prices was also a factor in the positive reviews.
According to Jangseong County, 760,000 people visited Hwangryonggang in October alone, contributing to the local economy. It is analyzed as the first step toward opening the era of 10 million Jangseong tourists.
The initiatives to enable prompt handling of civil complaints from town and township residents by ‘tripling the budget for town and township civil complaints’ and ‘expanding the department’s own contract scope’ also received many votes from residents.
Following these were policies named among the excellent policies of 2022 in the order of ▲winning the grand prize in the Mugunghwa (Rose of Sharon) landmark contest at Jangseong Mugunghwa Park ▲implementing a flat fare of 1,000 KRW for rural buses ▲creating water facilities (musical fountains) at Sangmu Peace Park ▲constructing a lighting fountain roundabout at Munhwa Bridge, transformed into a safe and beautiful traffic facility ▲establishing the Gwangju area Jangseong local food direct store ▲supporting AI (Artificial Intelligence) companion dolls ▲and promoting support projects for small business owners.
A county official said, “Overall, policies with high resident-perceived effects were chosen by many,” adding, “Based on this year’s achievements, we will strive to operate county administration more advancedly and provide highly satisfactory administrative services.”
