[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam delivered love briquettes to four low-income households in the Gwanhaejeong area of Masanhappo-gu on the 3rd, in cooperation with the Busan·Gyeongnam branch of the Open Medical Society, to support vulnerable groups in having a warm winter.
On this day, Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Ha Hae-geun, head of the Busan·Gyeongnam branch of the Open Medical Society, and about 40 members participated. They formed a human chain of love by passing briquettes hand to hand and personally delivered briquettes to elderly single-person households, conveying warmth of love as well.
The Busan·Gyeongnam branch of the Open Medical Society plans to deliver 12,000 briquettes, 300 per household, to 40 underprivileged households this winter.
The Busan·Gyeongnam branch of the Open Medical Society was established in 2006 for public interest activities such as free medical treatment at home and abroad. Its volunteer members consist of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and volunteers, and they continue to carry out medical volunteer work in vulnerable areas, maintaining a wide range of activities.
Mayor Hong said, “Winter is an even more difficult season for neighbors in hardship,” and added, “I am grateful for the warm hearts sent to help our neighbors get through the winter during this time. Sharing activities will be a good example for our society.”
