Sweet Changnyeong Dan-gam Persimmons, Mr. Ha Cheol-ho's Dan-gam Wins Excellence Award from Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs at Korea Representative Fruit Selection Contest

Mr. Ha Cheol-ho, who won the Excellence Award in the Persimmon category at the Korea Representative Fruit Competition, is harvesting persimmons at the farm.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] The sweet persimmons produced in Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam, have been recognized as outstanding persimmons nationwide.

At the '2022 Korea Representative Fruit Selection Contest' hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and organized by the Korea Fruit Farmers Cooperative Federation, Mr. Ha Cheol-ho from Ibang-myeon won the Excellence Award with his Buyu sweet persimmons.

Mr. Ha Cheol-ho's Buyu sweet persimmons received high scores in the evaluation categories, including appearance inspection (shape, taste, etc.), measurement inspection (sugar content, acidity), and orchard inspection related to productivity and facilities.

Mr. Ha Cheol-ho said, "I am pleased to receive the Excellence Award for the sweet persimmons I carefully cultivated. I will continue to strive to produce sweet persimmons that look good and taste delicious."

Changnyeong-gun is continuously promoting various support projects such as modernization of fruit production facilities and branding Changnyeong fruits as premium products to establish a stable production base for farmers.

To improve the cultivation technology level of fruit farmers, they are conducting research group development by fruit item and on-site consulting education.

The Korea Representative Fruit Selection Contest has been held annually since 2011 to expand the consumption of domestic fruits and create a production and consumption base capable of competing with imported fruits, marking its 12th event this year.
