Students who received awards at the Daching Multicultural Competition are taking a group commemorative photo.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Creative and Character Research Institute at Dongmyung University held the "Multi-Creativity and Multi-Character Reading Debate Contest" on the 30th at the Second Engineering Building.
The contest is an extracurricular program aimed at enhancing creativity and character competencies through books. Students selected and read books related to creativity and character, then presented on ▲ reasons for choosing the book ▲ introduction of creativity and character-related competencies ▲ lessons learned ▲ memorable passages ▲ reasons for recommending the book ▲ and original poems related to the book’s content.
A total of nine students participated in the contest. The Grand Prize was awarded to Ko Kyung-chan from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering; the Excellence Award went to Kim Min-jun from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Kim Ga-hyun from Media Communication; the Encouragement Award was given to Jung Dong-jin from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Lee Ui-bin from the Department of Computer Engineering.
Grand Prize winner Ko Kyung-chan said, “I was very happy to freely express my thoughts after reading the book,” adding, “It was truly meaningful to recall and explain what the book’s content and the author’s message to readers were, and to create an opportunity for those in need to experience this book.”
Visiting Professor Lee Hyang-sook of the Creative and Character Research Institute said, “Next year, we want to expand the contest to give university students, who live in an era where reading books is less common, a chance to read at least one more book.”
The Creative and Character Research Institute plans to hold a winter academic conference with a celebratory performance on December 15 in Room 106 of the Business Administration Building under the theme “Creativity and Happiness.”
