China's First Sale Sold Out... Popular on Online Malls
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The 'Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Margiela Edition,' which sold out in just 8 seconds in South Korea, also showed strong performance in the China and Hong Kong markets.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 2nd that the first round of sales, conducted both online and offline from 10 a.m. on the 1st, resulted in a complete sell-out. In particular, on Chinese online shopping platforms such as Samsung.com, Jingdong, and Tmall, the product sold out within 10 seconds of the sales start. In Hong Kong, sales began on the 1st at Samsung.com and major stores, and all units were sold out.
The enthusiasm was also high domestically. The limited sale of 100 units on the domestic limited edition trading platform 'Cream,' which started at 10 a.m. the previous day, sold out within 8 seconds. On the same day, a large demand was also seen in the purchase lottery held on Samsung.com in the afternoon.
This product, created in collaboration with the French fashion brand Maison Margiela, features the signature color 'Solid White.' The rear design of the device body was inspired by the 'D?cortiqu?' technique, which appears to expose the internal components externally. The number 11, representing the accessory line, is circled.
The UX theme, incorporating Maison Margiela's unique design, is also included. It is offered in two concepts: a black-and-white inverted phone theme and a paintbrush theme. The package also includes a Bianceto leather cover, a silicone numbering case featuring a four-stitch design, a travel adapter, and a data cable.
The Maison Margiela Edition is priced at 2,255,000 KRW in Korea, which is 781,000 KRW more expensive than the standard Galaxy Z Flip4 512GB model priced at 1,474,000 KRW. However, due to its limited edition nature, it is observed to have attracted significant demand. The price in China is slightly higher at 12,799 yuan (approximately 2.36 million KRW) based on the exchange rate on the day.
Meanwhile, Samsung plans to conduct a second round of sales in China starting from the 12th.
