[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] KMI Korea Medical Institute announced on the 2nd that it held a joint research agreement ceremony on metabolic syndrome with Yonsei Medical Center.


KMI and Yonsei Medical Center have been conducting joint research for 16 years since their first agreement in 2007. After two extensions in 2012 and 2017, the fourth agreement was made this year. The agreement period is until 2027.


This agreement includes ▲ conducting joint academic research on metabolic syndrome ▲ storage and management of resources and data necessary for research ▲ joint ownership and publication of research results ▲ co-hosting domestic and international academic symposiums and seminars.


The main research project, "Metabolic Syndrome Research Project," has grown into the largest cohort study in Korea, and with this extension of the agreement, more research outcomes are expected.


Choi Jae-young, Director of Industry-Academic Cooperation at Yonsei Medical Center, said, "We are grateful to KMI for cooperating with Yonsei Medical Center for a long time," and added, "We will continue to strive to contribute to the promotion of public health and the advancement of medicine through many research achievements."


Lee Sang-ho, Chairman of KMI, stated, "By combining the strengths of both institutions and sharing information, various achievements are expected," and added, "We will spare no effort in necessary cooperation and support, such as building related platforms to ensure high-quality data can be utilized in research."
