[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 2nd that it won a total of four awards at the 'Scotland Car of the Year (SCOTY)' organized by the Automobile Journalists Association of Scotland (ASMW).
Hyundai Motor Group took the most awards among global automotive groups, winning four out of the 12 award categories.
Kia's Sportage won two awards: Family Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) of the Year and Hybrid Car of the Year. The dedicated electric vehicle model EV6 was selected as Car of the Year in the electric vehicle category for vehicles priced over ?40,000.
Additionally, the Genesis GV70 was chosen as the Medium SUV of the Year. This continued the two-year consecutive winning streak following the GV80, which was named Scotland's Luxury SUV of the Year last year.
Started in 1997, Scotland Car of the Year is the premier automotive awards ceremony in Scotland, conducted through a rigorous voting process by local automotive journalists and a panel of experts.
The ASMW stated, "The family SUV category is highly competitive, and the Sportage stands out with its dynamic design, spacious interior, and diverse powertrain lineup." They added, "Furthermore, the EV6 became the overwhelming winner by outperforming competitors with its excellent driving range, ultra-fast charging technology, and outstanding acceleration performance."
Regarding the GV70, they explained, "It boasts best-in-class interior quality, is practical, and offers excellent driving performance. It is especially notable that there is an electrified version of the GV70."
