[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Public Procurement Service (PPS) plans to leverage the excellence of the Korean-style electronic procurement system to establish an international electronic procurement network.
On the 2nd, the PPS announced that Director General Lee Jong-wook will sequentially visit the Philippines, Egypt, and Tunisia to promote the excellence of the Korean-style electronic procurement system locally and explore ways to build an international electronic procurement network and develop inter-country public procurement.
Director General Lee’s schedule begins with attending and delivering the keynote speech at the 8th Asia-Pacific Electronic Procurement Network General Assembly held on the 5th (local time) in Manila, Philippines.
In his keynote speech, Director General Lee will convey the message that strategic procurement, which actively utilizes public purchasing power for national policy objectives, must be strengthened. He will also introduce Korea’s next-generation Nara Market construction project and explain the blueprint for future electronic procurement.
On the 6th and 7th, he will visit Egypt to promote the excellence of the Korean-style electronic procurement system and suggest directions for the development of Egypt’s electronic procurement.
In Tunisia, on the 8th and 9th, a memorandum of understanding will be signed to strengthen cooperation in the procurement sector between the two countries, and an electronic procurement seminar will be held.
In particular, at the electronic procurement seminar attended by international organizations such as the African Development Bank (AfDB), the World Bank (WB), and African countries including Cameroon and Rwanda, Director General Lee plans to promote the excellence of the Korean-style electronic procurement by introducing Tunisia’s success case of adopting Korea’s Nara Market and the next-generation Nara Market construction project.
Director General Lee said, “Interest in electronic procurement is increasing beyond Asia to the African region, and actual adoption cases are also on the rise. Taking the visits to the Philippines, Egypt, and Tunisia as an opportunity, we will strive to strengthen the international community’s electronic procurement cooperation system and lay the groundwork for the overseas expansion of the Korean-style procurement system.”
