Leading the Training of Skilled Personnel for Offshore Wind Power Maintenance
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] On the 29th of last month, Park Woo-ryang, the mayor of Sinan County, Michael Reifenschulte, the German ambassador, Seo Jung-wook, CEO of TUV SUD Korea Co., Ltd., members of the county council, stakeholders from the offshore wind power industry and academia, and local residents attended the opening ceremony of the Sinan Offshore Wind Power Safety and Maintenance Training Center.
The newly opened training center was established for the first time nationwide through cooperation between TUV SUD Korea Co., Ltd. and Sinan County to cultivate specialized personnel for offshore wind power maintenance. It has been certified by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) for four essential basic safety training courses and plans to provide safety education for workers in the wind power industry.
TUV SUD is a leading German testing, inspection, and certification organization. In January, it signed a business agreement with Sinan County to establish an ecosystem for the offshore wind power maintenance industry, proactively responding to and cooperating in the development and establishment of offshore wind power maintenance and testing infrastructure.
Mayor Park Woo-ryang stated, “Activating the maintenance industry near offshore wind power project sites is essential. The opening of this training center provides a great opportunity for local residents to become specialized personnel in offshore wind power maintenance. We will actively support the securing of specialized personnel and the establishment of a foundation for the offshore wind power maintenance industry ecosystem.”
