Naju City to Hold Regular Performance of Municipal Gugak Orchestra at Cultural Arts Center on the 7th

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] Jeonnam Naju City (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 1st that it will hold the 9th regular concert of the Municipal Gugak Orchestra, "Puli, A New Journey," at the Culture and Arts Center from 7:30 PM on the 7th.

This regular concert reflects the Gugak orchestra's intention to comfort citizens' daily lives and wish for a hopeful new year amid the subdued social atmosphere caused by the resurgence of COVID-19 and the Itaewon tragedy in Seoul.

Starting with the Seoljanggu Concerto "Odyssey" (composed by Min Young-chi), the concert will feature a cappella "Bonghwangdeul Nore" newly interpreting the local folk songs of the Bonghwang region, the North Korean composer Choi Sung-han's Gugak orchestral piece "Arirang Fantasy," the dance drama "Naju Four Seasons" expressing the beautiful four seasons of Naju through dance (composed by Moon Kyung-mi), and the Gugak orchestral piece "Festival, Movement 3" (composed by Lee Joon-ho), presenting a diverse performance combining Gugak orchestral sounds, dance, and chorus.

Additionally, "Jindo Ssikkimgut," performed in collaboration with the Naju Municipal Choir, and the Gugak orchestral piece "Jinhon" (composed by Lee Jung-ho) offer consolation to the souls lost in the tragic accident and deliver messages of comfort to those left behind in the world.

A city official said, "We have prepared this regular performance to reflect on the eventful year 2022 marked by tragic accidents that must never be repeated, conveying consolation and hope," and added, "We hope for much interest and attendance at the Gugak orchestra's regular concert, which will be the last stage of this year."

Meanwhile, following the Gugak orchestra, the city plans to hold a year-end special concert by the Municipal Choir at the Culture and Arts Center from 7:30 PM on the 22nd.
