Kakao Pay Provides Payment Service to Asiana Airlines

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunju Lee] Kakao Pay will provide payment services to Asiana Airlines.

According to Kakao Pay on the 1st, the company began offering online payment services on Asiana Airlines' website and application sales channels starting November 30.

Kakao Pay and Asiana Airlines explained that they expanded their cooperation to enhance consumers' convenience in purchasing airline tickets as domestic COVID-19 regulations were eased, including the abolition of quarantine and mandatory PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing within one day after entry for overseas arrivals, and as domestic and international travel demand increased toward the end of the year.

A discount promotion to commemorate the launch of the payment service will also be held. This promotion, running for one month from December 1 to 31, offers users who pay with Kakao Pay on Asiana Airlines' website and application an immediate discount benefit of up to 100,000 KRW depending on the payment amount.

Kakao Pay stated, "With this cooperation with Asiana Airlines, as Kakao Pay's payment service expands from low-cost carriers (LCC) to major airlines, we expect more users to conveniently purchase airline tickets," adding, "We will continue to expand our services to provide various payment conveniences not only domestically but also overseas in line with the steadily increasing travel demand."
