[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Doo-yeol] On the 7th day of the general strike, the 30th, a Cargo Solidarity Busan branch executive was arrested by the police on suspicion of obstructing operation by throwing a microphone behind the driver's seat of a trailer in operation.
According to Busan Jungbu Police Station, at around 2:20 p.m. that day, Cargo Solidarity branch chief Mr. A was arrested on charges of obstruction of business in front of the rally site at Pier 4, Gangseo-gu.
Mr. A was investigated for threatening by throwing a microphone he held into the area behind the driver's seat of a trailer operated by a non-union member. Mr. A's actions were fully recorded on nearby CCTV.
Earlier, at 10:03 p.m. on the 29th, at the Busan New Port International Terminal in Gangseo-gu, the police launched an investigation after an unidentified person threw eggs at the hood of a trailer in operation.
A police official said, "We have secured black box footage and surrounding CCTV and are conducting a tracking investigation."
Currently, Cargo Solidarity has been on a general strike since the 24th, demanding the abolition of the sunset clause of the Safe Freight Rate System and the expansion of the types and items subject to the Safe Freight Rate System.
The Safe Freight Rate System is a system that stipulates the minimum transportation cost for freight truck owners, and if a freight rate lower than the set standard rate is paid, a fine is imposed on the shipper. It was introduced as a three-year sunset system valid from 2020 to 2022 at the time of its introduction.
