[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 30th that it will accept applications for the ‘Next Year’s Government-Distributed Rice Seed Application’ for high-quality rice production until the 14th of next month.
The county plans to supply 96 tons of five varieties?Saechungmu, Dongjinchal, Jomyeong No.1, Sindongjin, and Baekokchal?according to the National Seed Management Office’s government-distributed rice seed supply plan.
Government-distributed seeds are government-guaranteed seeds that have passed seed inspection standards.
They are characterized by well-expressed unique varietal traits and high purity, allowing for the expectation of producing rice of satisfactory quality.
Farmers who need government-distributed seeds can visit the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Center within the application period to apply for their desired variety and quantity.
The required seed amount is 50 kg per hectare (㏊).
However, before selecting a variety, it should be noted that the county’s public stockpiling purchase variety for next year is the single variety Saechungmu.
Also, since all varieties are supplied in an untreated state, thorough seed disinfection is necessary.
Seed disinfection methods can be confirmed through the ‘Rice Government-Distributed Seed Application Guide’ materials available at the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Center or via videos on the National Seed Management Office’s blog.
A county official stated, “We will also promote the ‘Rice Seed Price Difference Support Project,’ which subsidizes 10,000 KRW each for the price difference between government-distributed seed prices and purchase prices, to reduce farmers’ burdens and contribute to the expansion of distributed seeds.”
