[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Bank of Korea announced on the 30th that Governor Lee Chang-yong will depart on the 1st of next month to attend the '80th Anniversary Conference of the Establishment of the Bank of Thailand' held in Bangkok, Thailand, and is scheduled to return on the 5th.


The conference will be held over three days from the 1st to the 3rd of next month and is jointly hosted by the Bank of Thailand and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).


Key central bank governors and international organization officials, as well as overseas scholars, will participate, including Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank; Yi Gang, Governor of the People's Bank of China (participating virtually); Fran?ois Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Bank of France (participating virtually); Philip Lowe, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia; Ravi Menon, Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore; and Agust?n Carstens, General Manager of the BIS.


Governor Lee plans to participate as a panelist to discuss the digitalization of monetary systems, growth and inflation dynamics, and the role of central banks in responding to climate change, aiming to strengthen the close cooperative relationship between the Bank of Korea and the Bank of Thailand.
