The Daedeok Innopolis Venture Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) is collaborating with the ICT Test Research Center of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), a joint research institution of the 5G Convergence Service Testbed project (led by NIA), to carry out the "Support Project for Establishing Online and Offline Contact Channels and Operating Educational Programs to Revitalize the Operation of the 5G Open Test Lab" (hereinafter referred to as the Support Project) aimed at fostering the 5G convergence service industry and strengthening corporate competitiveness centered in Daejeon.
Through the 5G convergence service contact channel, the Association identifies companies in the wireless communication sector related to 5G and links them with ETRI’s 5G Open Test Lab for demonstration and testing verification, serving as a forward base for activating the open test lab centered in Daejeon and commercializing 5G convergence services.
The "5G Step-by-Step Educational Program," which has been ongoing since last May, consisted of a total of six sessions, with 83 participants including employees of related companies, students, and the general public completing the course. The beginner course covered △ 5G and the Fourth Industrial Revolution △ 5G Market and Major Operator Trends △ Evolution to 6G in the Metaverse Era; the intermediate course included △ Changes in Communication Services and Market Technologies △ 5G Network Architecture (Open Source/Manufacturers) △ Edge Computing for Mobile Environments; and the advanced course comprised △ 5G Cloud Technologies and Open Source △ NR and Access Network △ 5G Networks Testbed.
Each course attracted a diverse range of participants, from CEOs and employees of 5G-related companies to the general public and students, enhancing understanding and expertise in the 5G industry. Participants were also connected to various additional support services such as technical support linkage, consulting related to the open test lab, seminars/education, and mentoring.
The 5G Open Test Lab contact channel is located in the IT-exclusive Venture Town of Daejeon Technopark, staffed by professional managers who provide guidance on 5G-related issues, support project consultations, and linkage to technical support services.
An official from the Association stated, “Although the 5G educational courses will conclude this year, ETRI continues to support companies by providing facility and equipment support and issuing test reports to expand the 5G industry. Going forward, we will contribute to the growth of companies and strengthening of market competitiveness by offering specialized educational programs and support for utilizing the 5G Open Test Lab to support 5G and related companies in the Daejeon area.”
