Military Investigating Circumstances of Defection
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] An incident occurred at an army unit in Gangwon Province where a non-commissioned officer (NCO) unauthorizedly left during outdoor training, causing the training to be halted.
According to the Army on the 29th, on the night of the 24th, Sergeant A at an army unit in the Gangwon area unauthorizedly left using a vehicle during the Korea Combat Training Center (KCTC) training.
The military, together with the police, pursued and apprehended Sergeant A near the training ground the following day. The military police have detained Sergeant A and are investigating the detailed circumstances of the unauthorized departure.
It is very rare for an NCO to leave training unauthorized.
Meanwhile, the outdoor training, which was temporarily suspended due to Sergeant A's unauthorized departure, resumed after Sergeant A was apprehended.
