Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture Extends Annual 110,000 KRW 'Munhwa Nuri Card Issuance' Until Next Month 14

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on the 30th that it has extended the issuance period of the ‘Munhwa Nuri Card,’ which 450,000 basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups can use until the end of this year, by two weeks until the 14th of next month.

The ‘Munhwa Nuri Card’ is a cultural welfare project that supports 110,000 KRW per person annually for basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups (aged 6 and above) to enjoy culture and arts, domestic travel, and sports activities to improve quality of life and reduce cultural disparities. This year is the first year of operation with a total budget of 49.5 billion KRW, expanded by 49% compared to the previous year, allowing 100% card issuance to all basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups aged 6 and above. Since September 1, the support amount has been increased by 10,000 KRW from 100,000 KRW to 110,000 KRW.

The ‘Munhwa Nuri Card’ support funds can only be used at stores registered as Munhwa Nuri Card affiliated merchants nationwide until the end of the year, and any unused amount within the period will not be carried over to the next year and will expire. Currently, there are 3,700 Munhwa Nuri Card affiliated merchants in Seoul, including the National Theater Company and the Leeum Museum of Art. To ensure safe and convenient use for users, affiliated merchants that allow phone payments, online merchants, and those offering visiting cultural services are continuously being discovered.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture will hold the ‘Seoul Munhwa Nuri Year-End Balance Settlement’ event from the 1st to the 14th of next month to promote the use of the ‘Munhwa Nuri Card.’ Any card user residing in Seoul can participate by leaving less than 5,000 KRW in their Munhwa Nuri Card balance, saving the balance inquiry screen, and attaching it to the survey form provided on the Seoul Munhwa Nuri Card social media (SNS). Among the applicants, 100 people will be selected by lottery to receive small prizes.
