[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jongman) announced on the 29th that on the 26th, they held the '12th Local Children's Center Mini Olympics' at Haeryong High School playground while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
The event, hosted by the Yeonggwang-gun Local Children's Center Association, was attended by Governor Kang Jongman, National Assembly member Lee Gaeho, Yeonggwang-gun Council Chairman Kang Pilgu and council members, Jeollanam-do officials Park Wonjong and Oh Mihwa, as well as about 400 children and workers from local children's centers.
The children participated in the event wearing uniforms sponsored by Baek Club (President Kim Jeongwoo).
This Mini Olympics, under the theme "Let's Gather and Play Together," featured popular games and programs for children such as shoe throwing, mission running, hula hoop, color mat flipping, big ball rolling, ball pool basketball, and relay races, creating a joyful festival for all.
Lee Yeonok, president of the Yeonggwang-gun Local Children's Center Association, said, "Due to COVID-19, outdoor activities were restricted, causing children to accumulate a lot of stress, but for the first time in a while, the center's children gathered together, cooperated, understood each other, and had a meaningful time."
Governor Kang Jongman said, "I appreciate the efforts of those working at local children's centers, which play a significant role in creating a foundation where children can grow safely and excellently and in promoting child welfare," adding, "I hope this will be a happy time where children, our future and hope, can freely pursue their dreams and hopes."
