Miryang Mayor Park Il-ho Embraces the 'Great Award' Given by Farmers Nationwide

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Park Il-ho, mayor of Miryang City, Gyeongnam, received a 'Grand Prize' awarded by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation in recognition of his dedicated efforts to improve the quality of life for farmers and develop local agriculture in various ways.

Mayor Park received the award at the '2022 Regional Agricultural Development Leading Figure Award' ceremony held at 10 a.m. on the 29th in the main auditorium of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.

This award is given annually by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation to local government officials nationwide who have contributed to regional agricultural development and the improvement of farmers' quality of life. This year, eight mayors and county heads, including the mayor of Miryang, were honored.

Mayor Park was the only recipient from Gyeongnam to be selected for the Regional Agricultural Development Leading Figure Award, recognized for his contributions to strengthening agricultural competitiveness through initiatives such as local government-cooperation projects supporting farms facing difficulties due to labor shortages in rural areas.

Mayor Park stated, "I believe agriculture is a blue ocean for future food industries, and I will do my best to ensure Miryang plays a central role in this." He added, "To complete Miryang as the smart 6th industrial agriculture capital, we will expand exchanges between urban and rural enterprises, activate direct transactions of agricultural products, and collaborate and communicate with agricultural-related institutions located in Miryang to create the nation's best agricultural city and develop into a city where farmers are happy."
