[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 29th, the sixth day of the strike by the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters of the Korean Public Service and Transport Workers' Union (Cargo Solidarity), three union members were arrested by the police in Busan for illegal activities.
The Gangseo Police Station in Busan announced that Mr. A was arrested on the spot on charges of obstruction of business, and Mr. B and Mr. C were arrested on the spot on charges of obstructing official duties, and are currently under investigation. According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of throwing a lighter at the windshield of a non-union member's vehicle on the street in front of the Busan New Port Seamen's Hall at around 10:45 a.m. that day. Mr. B and Mr. C are suspected of assaulting police officers by throwing water bottles at them during the process of arresting and escorting Mr. A on the spot.
Two police officers sustained bruises during the arrest and are expected to receive hospital treatment.
