[Asia Economy Reporter Gwak Minjae] Gam Byeong-woo, Head of Product Development at Daedong, announced on the 29th that he received the ‘Science and Technology Grand Prize Industrial Medal’ at the ‘25th Agricultural, Forestry, Livestock, and Food Science and Technology Awards Ceremony’ held on the 28th, in recognition of his contributions to the development and mass distribution of autonomous agricultural machinery technology.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has been selecting and awarding researchers who have contributed to increasing farmers' income and developing the agri-food industry through the development and dissemination of excellent technologies in the agricultural, forestry, livestock, and food sectors every year since the ‘Korea Agricultural Science and Technology Awards’ began in 1998. Head Gam was recognized for enhancing the national intelligent agricultural machinery technology level through the development of commercialization technology for autonomous tractors from 2018 to 2021, involving three domestic agricultural machinery manufacturers including Daedong, and for leading the development and distribution of Daedong’s autonomous agricultural machinery, contributing to agricultural advancement.
Gam Byeong-woo, Head of Product Development at Daedong, said, “It was thanks to Daedong’s 75 years of agricultural machinery technology and know-how, as well as generous investment in smart agricultural machinery development, that I was able to receive this honor. I take this as a sign to devote myself further to the development of smart agricultural machinery for Korea’s agriculture and rural areas, and as the head of development at Daedong, a future agriculture company, I will do my utmost.”
Meanwhile, Head Gam started as an R&D researcher at Daedong’s Changnyeong Research Center in 2001, served as deputy director of the research center in 2018, and has been in charge of product development since 2022, leading innovation in agricultural machinery development.
