“Now Moving Towards an Eco-Friendly City” … Ulsan City Hosts the ‘22nd Balanced Development Information Cooperation Forum’

Policy Proposals and Sharing of Local Cases for Eco-Friendly Cities

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City will jointly hold the 22nd Balanced Development Information Cooperation Forum at 2 p.m. on the 29th at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center with the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

The Balanced Development Information Cooperation Forum is held to activate the balanced development information cooperation system based on the National Balanced Development Comprehensive Information System (NABIS) and to create a platform for information sharing involving industry, academia, research, and government within the region. The forum will also be broadcast live on YouTube.

This forum will feature a keynote speech, presentations of best practices, and an Open Talk Concert, followed by an introduction to balanced development policies for creating an eco-friendly city and exemplary cases of Ulsan City's efforts to transition into an eco-friendly city.

Additionally, experts from various fields will be invited to share diverse measures to create a sustainable eco-friendly culture.

The keynote speeches will be delivered by Jongsoon Park, Director of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, on the topic "Directions for Creating Green Cities in the Post-COVID Era," and Professor Dongpil Kim from the Department of Landscape Architecture at Pusan National University, with the theme "Permeating into Park Green Spaces in the Era of Climate Crisis."

In the best practice presentations, Jaetak Song, Officer of the Park and Greenery Division at Jung-gu Office in Ulsan, will introduce "Urban-type Recreation, Camping, and Forest Education Facilities in Jung-gu, Ulsan," and Professor Jeonghak Lee from Ulsan College of Science will present on "Taehwa River Transformed from a River of Death to an Ecological River."

Following this, an open discussion among regional innovation experts will be held on topics such as ecological cities, carbon neutrality, park greenery, and urban regeneration, focusing on sustainable eco-friendly culture and revitalization of local industries.

An official from Ulsan City stated, "Through this event, we will share nationwide the various efforts and achievements of Ulsan, known only as an industrial city, in moving toward an eco-friendly city. We will do our best to make it a competitive and livable city through policy reviews for an eco-friendly city."
