Campaign for River Cleanup Activities Held on the 26th at Yi Sun-sin Square and Seosijang Yeondeungcheon Area
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] The Yeosu Declaration Practice Committee (Chairman Jeong Geum-hee, hereinafter referred to as Yeosilwi) held a 'Carbon Neutral Plogging and River Cleanup Campaign' on the 26th at Yi Sun-sin Square and the lower reaches of Yeondeungcheon in Seomarket.
About 50 Yeosilwi members and a total of 200 citizens gathered at Yi Sun-sin Square to experience making 'EM soil balls' and then received cleanup kits to carry out the plogging campaign.
Participants who completed the plogging course separated and organized the trash, then gathered at Yeondeungcheon in Seomarket to throw the EM soil balls, concluding the environmental cleanup activity.
The citizens who participated in the campaign expressed joy, saying they were glad to hear about the necessity and effectiveness of EM soil balls and to have a meaningful experience for the environment.
Jeong Geum-hee, Chairman of Yeosilwi, stated, "I hope this meaningful event reaffirmed the importance of environmental protection through carbon-neutral plogging and EM soil ball throwing. We will continue to conduct various campaigns so that more citizens can participate in environmental protection."
Jeong Gi-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu, visited the site that day and participated in the experience, saying, "I thank the Yeosu Declaration Practice Committee and participating citizens for leading the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050," and added, "Our city is striving to host the 33rd United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 33) together with the South Coast and South Central regions as a leading city in climate change response. We ask for the interest and support of many citizens."
Meanwhile, Yeosilwi has been playing a significant role as an environmental guardian in the local community by conducting annual plogging campaigns with citizens.
