[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Students and faculty members of Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) visited rural villages and carried out volunteer activities by donating their talents, receiving positive responses.

On the 28th, according to Gwangju, the Hosim Social Volunteer Group, consisting of 76 people including President Kim Dongjin, faculty members, and students, conducted welfare service activities for farmers in a village in Wauri, Bongsan-myeon, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do. The volunteer activities were carried out in cooperation with the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.

Faculty and students of Gwangju University contributed to revitalizing rural villages struggling with a decrease in the agricultural population and aging, supporting farmers' healthy lives and improving comfortable living environments through talent donation.

The Department of Hotel Food and Beverage Cooking prepared 200 servings of Jajangmyeon and Japchae, and the Department of Nursing operated a health booth to check blood sugar and blood pressure and provided emergency treatment education.

Additionally, the Department of Beauty and Cosmetology and the Department of Photography, Video, and Drone took makeup and hair care services, as well as took longevity photos and group photos wishing for health and disease-free lives, which were delivered to the villagers. The Department of Sports Science donated their talents through sports taping and massage activities.

The faculty volunteer group conducted a mental health counseling program and also had time to discuss village revitalization plans with the residents. Along with this, the staff volunteer group went around the village replacing old LED lights.

Park Wonbin (Department of Sports Science, 4th year), president of the student council who participated in the volunteer activities, said, “The participating students feel proud to have the opportunity to revitalize the village and take care of their health,” and added, “We will strive to carry out more talent donation volunteer activities.”

President Kim Dongjin stated, “The Gwangju University Hosim Social Volunteer Group regularly carries out volunteer activities and practices sharing,” and added, “We will continue to carry out volunteer activities that realize Gwangju University’s vision of co-prosperity with the region by cooperating with various organizations including the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.”

Meanwhile, on the 14th, Gwangju University signed a business agreement with the Jeonnam Agricultural Cooperative Headquarters for university students’ agricultural and rural field learning, and plans to continuously carry out volunteer activities utilizing students’ majors and talents.
