[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] On the 28th, the Financial Supervisory Service announced that it delivered 110 million KRW in self-reliance support funds, prepared together with Industrial Bank of Korea and NongHyup Bank, to the Green Umbrella Child Fund to support the independence of youth preparing for self-reliance.
Youth preparing for self-reliance refers to young people who have been protected in child welfare facilities and typically begin their independent life after protection ends at the age of 18.
Lee Bokhyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, held a meeting with the youth preparing for self-reliance after delivering the support funds and said, "Helping young people who take their first steps into society under difficult circumstances to have hope and settle down is the responsibility of the parent generation and an essential task for the future of our society. I hope that the message of encouragement we delivered today can be of some help to the independence of youth preparing for self-reliance, and I wish for the warm interest of society toward these youth to expand further."
The support funds will be distributed to 10 youth preparing for self-reliance and will be used for their education, living stability, and preparation for independence.
