[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, reiterated that any illegal acts related to the general strike by the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions’ National Public Transport Workers’ Union (Cargo Solidarity) will be dealt with under a zero-tolerance policy.

At a joint briefing of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting regarding the Cargo Solidarity’s collective refusal to transport held that morning, Commissioner Yoon stated, "We will firmly establish the principle that illegal acts using collective forces in our society can never be tolerated." The day before, he also emphasized this strict response policy during his visit to the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Uiwang City, Gyeonggi Province, where he inspected the Cargo Solidarity’s collective refusal to transport situation and encouraged the police riot squad members on duty.

Commissioner Yoon stressed, "The police are maintaining a 24-hour all-out response system and are strictly responding to illegal acts." He added, "We are concentrating available police forces, including riot squads, detectives, and traffic motorcycle units, at key points such as ports, logistics bases, and industrial complexes where obstruction of normal transportation or facility blockades are expected, and strengthening 112 patrols to proactively prevent and block various anticipated illegal acts and violence."

In addition, the police are operating a rapid response escort team composed of nationwide traffic motorcycle units and patrol cars to protect the normal transportation of cargo vehicles. Commissioner Yoon explained that they maintain a policy of arresting offenders caught in the act for acts that obstruct normal transportation, such as assault, threats, and vehicle damage against non-union drivers during this process.

Commissioner Yoon emphasized again, "We will relentlessly track down the core instigators, radical actors, and even the masterminds behind them to take judicial action without exception." He added, "For illegal acts involving vehicles, administrative measures such as suspension and cancellation of driver’s licenses will be taken alongside judicial processing." To this end, Commissioner Yoon promised ▲ deploying all capabilities including detectives and riot squads during official duties ▲ conducting strict and swift investigations into executive bodies that incite or aid violations of work commencement orders.
