Goseong-gun Achieves Two Crowns at This Year's Gyeongsangnam-do Youth Volunteer Competition The Goseong County Youth Sharing Volunteer Group and the Hoihwa Jook Kids Volunteer Group, operated by Goseong County in Gyeongnam, received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award and the Gyeongsangnam-do Superintendent of Education Award.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] The Goseong County Youth Nanugo Volunteer Group and the Hoihwa Jup Kids Volunteer Group, operated by Goseong County in Gyeongnam, recently won two awards at the 2022 Gyeongsangnam-do Youth Volunteer Competition and UCC Contest, receiving the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award and the Gyeongsangnam-do Superintendent of Education Award.

Hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Gyeongsangnam-do, supported by the Gyeongsangnam-do Council, and organized by the Gyeongsangnam-do Youth Support Foundation and the Korea Youth Activity Promotion Agency, this competition was established to discover cases of volunteer activities, raise interest in volunteering, and spread a culture of participation.

The Youth Nanugo Volunteer Group is a volunteer organization composed of middle and high school students from Goseong County, which has been steadily conducting volunteer activities once a month since its founding in 2011.

They were recognized for their meaningful and diverse volunteer activities such as making placards using discarded boxes, a campaign to prohibit littering in rainwater drainage pipes, creating a zero-waste Goseong, climate crisis response education, and donating Dream Voucher cards, earning them the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award.

The Hoihwa Jup Kids Volunteer Group, led by students of Hoihwa Elementary School amid the emerging new paradigm of carbon neutrality, produced a UCC highlighting the problems of repeatedly generated waste and severe environmental pollution in collaboration with the Green Mothers' Association, winning the Gyeongsangnam-do Superintendent of Education Award.

Kim Shin-bi (Jungang High School), representative of the Youth Nanugo Volunteer Group, said, “I am grateful to receive this precious award. We will cherish the meaning of this recognition as praise and encouragement for our volunteer activities and strive to always be a Nanugo Volunteer Group dedicated to volunteering.”

Park Won-cheol, Director of the Resident Life Division, said, “We are pleased that the youth-led diverse volunteer activities have been recognized with awards. We will continue to actively support the youth in conducting various volunteer activities independently through administrative support.”
