Investment of 24.5 Billion KRW... Target Operation in Q3 2025
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Huons is expanding its injectable drug production facilities and is set to significantly increase its production capacity.
On the 28th, Huons announced that it will introduce new injectable drug production lines at its Jecheon plant located in the Bio Valley of Jecheon City, Chungbuk.
This expansion responds to the increased market demand following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for four products, including the local anesthetic lidocaine, and aims to establish cGMP-grade manufacturing facilities. The new injectable drug lines to be added include one vial line and one cartridge line.
To this end, Huons is investing 24.5 billion KRW. The new vial line will have a production capacity of 73 million vials, approximately 2.5 times that of the existing line, and the new cartridge line will be equipped to produce 71 million cartridges, securing about double the total production capacity when combined with the existing lines.
The new production lines are scheduled to begin operation in the third quarter of 2025, aiming to increase utilization rates through the transition from outsourced pharmaceutical production to in-house manufacturing and the launch of new products.
A Huons representative stated, "We decided to introduce new injectable drug lines with the latest equipment to proactively respond to increasing domestic and international market demand and to diversify exports. Through this expansion, we will establish advanced manufacturing facilities and a cGMP-grade environment to achieve Huons' future innovative growth."
