20 Ambassadors, Diplomats from 20 Countries, Representatives of 38 National Associations, and Heads of Daegu and Gyeongbuk Institutions Gathered in One Place
Gyeongsangbuk-do participated in the '2022 Daegu Gyeongbuk International Exchange Association (DGIEA) Friendship Night' event.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gyeongbuk Province participated in the ‘2022 Daegu·Gyeongbuk International Exchange Association (DGIEA) Friendship Night’ event held on the 25th at the Hotel Inter-Burgo Convention Hall in Daegu.
Marking its 13th year, this event was held under the theme of ‘Innovation, Harmony, and Peace,’ with ambassadors from 10 countries (Poland, Italy, Nepal, Romania, Czech Republic, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Senegal, Morocco, Slovakia), as well as diplomats from about 10 countries (Russia, Japan, Vietnam, Mongolia, China, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Singapore), and approximately 600 members from 38 country associations of the Daegu·Gyeongbuk International Exchange Association (DGIEA) attending to engage in people-to-people diplomacy.
On this day, Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province held discussions and shared information on ways to promote win-win cooperation and activate people-to-people diplomacy with members of various national associations who are engaged in diverse activities across medical, cultural, economic, and educational fields.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo emphasized preparations for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, the construction of the integrated Daegu·Gyeongbuk New Airport, attracting investment, creating good jobs, and regional development through the revitalization of industry, exports, and tourism, as well as establishing Daegu·Gyeongbuk’s status as an economic and cultural hub in the global arena.
He also repeatedly urged the 38 association officials and attending diplomatic personnel to further strengthen the mutual cooperation between Daegu and Gyeongbuk under the event’s theme of ‘Innovation, Harmony, and Peace.’
The Daegu·Gyeongbuk International Exchange Association is co-chaired by Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, and Keimyung University President Shin Il-hee.
Composed of about 1,600 members from 38 national associations, it is a people-to-people diplomacy organization that annually promotes diverse events and projects such as arts and culture, economy and trade, and medical volunteer services.
