[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam, conducted the 2022 Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill actual training on the 25th at the Daejanggyeong Theme Park in Gayamyeon.

The Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill is a training conducted under the "Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety" to strengthen disaster response capabilities through rapid initial actions when a large-scale disaster occurs.

This drill, held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, involved about 150 participants from 13 collaborative departments, Hapcheon Fire Station, Hapcheon Police Station, the 4th Battalion of the 5870 Unit, and 10 related organizations and private groups, with 19 pieces of equipment including fire trucks deployed.

The actual training on the day was set up as an on-site response and recovery drill for a fire at the Daejanggyeong Theme Park caused by an earthquake, in preparation for large-scale disasters that could occur in multi-occupancy facilities such as the 2017 Jecheon Sports Center fire and the 2018 Jongno Goshiwon fire.

The training procedures proceeded in the order of ▲assigning the training situation ▲rescue and fire suppression ▲establishing an on-site emergency response organization ▲comprehensive water spraying ▲transfer of on-site command ▲emergency recovery activities ▲training conclusion and debriefing.

Additionally, lively training was conducted, including inter-agency communication drills using the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE), which can be used even in the event of computer system failure during a disaster, and the deployment of firefighting helicopters that resembled actual situations.

Moreover, efforts were made not only in training but also in safety management such as pre-inspection of training facilities, safety education, evacuation guidance, and deployment of safety personnel, as well as quarantine management including cleaning and disinfecting key spaces within the facility and providing hand sanitizers and masks at the training site.

Deputy County Governor Lee Seon-gi said, “Through this training, we were able to improve systematic response capabilities to prepare for disasters that can occur anywhere,” and added, “We will do our utmost to minimize the loss of life and property of residents in the event of an actual disaster through practical training like today.”
