[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 25th, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 27th that the Geochang-eup Women's Civil Defense Mobilization Unit held a campaign to increase the population in front of the county office's cultural rest area to maintain the county's population of 60,000 amid the national crisis of regional population extinction.

About 20 members participated in this campaign, distributing promotional materials such as banners and leaflets on population increase policies to residents to overcome the regional extinction crisis.

Ryu I-seo, head of the Geochang-eup Women's Civil Defense Mobilization Unit, said, "It is heartbreaking that the county's population is decreasing along with the nationwide population decline, but if all residents participate and put effort into increasing the population, we will be able to maintain the population of 60,000."

County Governor Goo In-mo said, "In the recent crisis caused by low birth rates and aging population, I hope all residents will have a sense of urgency about the population decline and join in maintaining the population of 60,000."

The Geochang-eup Women's Civil Defense Mobilization Unit consists of about 30 members and is a model organization that practices cleaning public facilities in the city, picking up trash, inspecting civil defense facilities, acquiring CPR skills, and educating residents.
