SMEs Central Association Announces Manufacturing Wage Survey Results
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The average daily wage for production workers in small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in the second half of this year was 101,116 won, an increase of 2.8% compared to the previous year.
The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the 27th the results of the wage survey for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises, which small businesses use as basic data for labor cost calculation in contracts with the government and public institutions.
The wage survey was conducted on production workers at 1,400 small and medium-sized manufacturing companies with annual sales of over 3 billion won and more than 10 regular employees.
As a result, the average daily wage across all surveyed occupations (129 categories) was 101,116 won, showing an increase of 0.4% compared to March and 2.8% compared to August of last year.
By major occupation, the daily wage of parts assemblers rose by 0.6% to 88,920 won compared to the first half of this year. Simple labor workers earned 84,618 won, up 0.4%, and team leaders earned 121,072 won, up 0.1%.
By amount, the average daily wage of 'Chemical Engineering Quality Controllers' was the highest at 146,603 won, while 'Glass Cutting and Shaping Workers' had the lowest at 74,494 won.
The published survey wages will be applied from January 1 of next year. Detailed survey wages by occupation and explanatory reports can be found on the Korea Federation of SMEs website.
