'Tied for the Lead' Yamashita Miyu, Announces Fierce Victory Battle After Shooting 5 Under Par
[Asia Economy Reporter Tae-won Choi] Lee Min-young (30) raised expectations for victory by taking the lead after the third round in the final event of the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour season.
On the 26th, Lee Min-young recorded 3 birdies and 1 bogey for a 2-under-par 70 in the third round of the JLPGA Tour Ricoh Cup (total prize money 120 million yen) held at Miyazaki Country Club (par 72) in Japan. With a total score of 13-under-par 203, she is tied for first place with Miyu Yamashita (Japan).
She raised expectations by making a birdie starting from the second hole (par 5), but showed some disappointment by adding only one bogey on the 8th hole (par 3) in the front nine.
However, she succeeded in maintaining the lead by making consecutive birdies on the 11th hole (par 5) and the 16th hole (par 3).
Lee Min-young is the only Korean player to have won on the JLPGA this year. She achieved her first win of the season at the Meiji Cup in Hokkaido last August, marking her sixth career tour victory.
Miyu Yamashita made an eagle, 4 birdies, and 1 bogey, reducing her score by 5 strokes, signaling a fierce competition for the championship the next day.
Shin Ji-ae (34) is tied for 16th place with a total score of 4-under-par 212. Bae Sun-woo (28) is in 19th place (3-under-par 213), Jeon Mi-jung (40) is tied for 20th (2-under-par 214), and Hwang Ah-reum (35) is in 31st place (1-over-par 217).
