[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will carry out a 'Winter Social Welfare Facility Safety Inspection' until January 13 next year.

On the 25th, Suwon City announced that it will conduct inspections targeting a total of 1,684 locations, including social welfare facilities and similar small-scale facilities within the jurisdiction, to prevent disaster accidents in social welfare facilities during winter and to respond promptly.

The main inspection schedule will be conducted in a way that the respective social welfare facilities carry out self-inspections by the 30th of this month, followed by on-site inspections by Suwon City officials until January 13 next year.

During this period, Suwon City will also conduct joint public-private inspections involving officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, related departments, and experts (facilities, electricity, gas, fire).

The main inspection items include ▲ disaster response measures for heavy snow and cold waves considering winter characteristics ▲ whether a facility safety management plan has been established, safety manager education and training ▲ meal hygiene and safety, infectious disease control measures ▲ installation and proper operation of fire-fighting equipment ▲ evacuation measures in case of emergency situations.

The city plans to encourage immediate correction of minor issues on-site based on the inspection results and to promptly reinforce facilities with insufficient safety management or violations.

A city official stated, "As the importance of safety management in facilities used by many people has increased, we will conduct thorough inspections to protect the precious lives and safety of citizens."
