The South Korean national football team is holding a tight battle in midfield against Uruguay. In the first match of Group H in the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup group stage held on the 24th at Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, they showed equal possession against their opponent and ended the first half 0-0.

The team consistently attacked Uruguay's backyard with lateral switches and long passes. In the early stages, Na Sang-ho (Seoul) stood out with his performance. He effectively penetrated spaces with vigorous movements on the right flank. However, the subsequent passes were inaccurate and did not lead to goal opportunities.

The withdrawn Uruguay tried to change the momentum with shots or crosses following long passes. However, Federico Valverde's (Real Madrid) mid-range shot was off target, and Darwin N??ez (Liverpool) failed to connect with Facundo Pellistri's (Manchester United) cross in front of the goal.

The team changed the flow with Son Heung-min's (Tottenham) space penetration and seized a decisive chance in the 33rd minute of the first half. Kim Moon-han delivered a brilliant pass from the right flank to Hwang Ui-jo (Olimpia Asunci?n) in front of the goal. However, the subsequent shot did not head towards the goal.

Uruguay also had a golden opportunity in the 43rd minute of the first half. During a corner kick, Diego God?n (Defensor Sporting) made a high jump and headed the ball. The ball, heading towards the right corner of the goal, hit the post and bounced out. The Uruguayan players could not hide their disappointment, while the Korean players breathed a sigh of relief.
