Gwangyang Steelworks, Gwangyang City, and Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce Deliver 5,600 Snacks to Pohang Steelworks
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO (CEO Kim Hak-dong) announced that it conducted a support event called ‘Respond 1973 Season 2’ to encourage Pohang Steelworks employees who are working hard on flood recovery efforts caused by the Naengcheon overflow.
With the slogan of 1973, the year of the comprehensive completion of Pohang Steelworks, symbolizing the second founding of Pohang Steelworks, this event entered its second season with the combined efforts of Gwangyang Steelworks, Gwangyang City, and the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The flood recovery support event was held over two days. On the first day, the 24th, Jeong In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, Lee Baek-gu, Chairman of the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce, Yang Won-jun, Head of POSCO Management Support Headquarters, and Lee Cheol-ho, Deputy Head of Gwangyang Steelworks Administration, visited Pohang Steelworks together.
They visited the STS Sodunsan Processing Plant and delivered fish cakes, steamed buns, and Gwangyang Dan-gam persimmons and snacks prepared directly by Gwangyang City to the employees sweating over the recovery work, along with messages of support.
The fish cakes were adorned with stickers featuring drawings and support messages carefully created by children from the Gwangyang and Pohang area children’s centers, sponsored by the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation, adding warmth to the gesture.
On that day, a total of 5,600 snacks were delivered to 10 Pohang Steelworks factories, where employees gathered closely to cool down from their hard work, enjoying warm fish cakes and steamed buns while engaging in lively conversations.
On the 30th, employees of Gwangyang Steelworks will deliver 4,400 warm fish cakes and steamed buns to 10 Pohang Steelworks factories, practicing the spirit of partnership.
Additionally, from 2 p.m., on both days, the ‘Modu愛 Meal Truck’ delivered by corporate citizen POSCO to Gwangyang City and Jungma Senior Welfare Center on the 4th will share warm kindness at Pohang Steelworks as a response to the support.
In particular, this event holds deeper significance as it reflects the essence of corporate citizenship?‘coexistence and mutual growth’?by showing how companies and local communities unite to support crisis recovery sites.
An employee who received the snacks said, “We are grateful to Gwangyang Steelworks, Gwangyang City, and the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry for coming all the way from Gwangyang to support Pohang Steelworks,” adding, “Pohang Steelworks will do its best to ensure safe flood recovery with everyone’s support.”
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Steelworks is actively working for the rapid recovery of Pohang Steelworks and minimizing customer damage by ▲supporting 18 ore carriers ▲delivering 5,600 snacks to Pohang Steelworks with Gwangyang City and the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce ▲supplying refractory materials ▲supporting recovery efforts by MZ generation employees ▲and minimizing supply disruptions through increased production.
