The Four-Back Defensive Line Consists of Kim Jin-su, Kim Young-gwon, Kim Min-jae, and Kim Moon-hwan
Son Heung-min (Tottenham) overcomes a facial injury to start in the first match against Uruguay. The national football team announced the starting lineup about an hour before the first Group H match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar at Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, on the 24th. Son Heung-min, who underwent surgery earlier this month after a strong collision with an opponent in his club team, has shaken off his injury and made the roster. Returning to the field about three weeks after the accident, he will lead Korea's second-ever advancement to the round of 16 in an away World Cup.
Head coach Paulo Bento places Son Heung-min and Na Sang-ho (Seoul) as left and right wingers, respectively, with Hwang Ui-jo (Olympiacos) as the central forward. The attacking midfield positions are filled by Hwang In-beom (Olympiacos) and Lee Jae-sung (Mainz). The defensive midfielder role is assigned to Jung Woo-young (Al Sadd). The back four defense line is composed from left to right by Kim Jin-su (Jeonbuk), Kim Young-gwon (Ulsan), Kim Min-jae (Napoli), and Kim Moon-hwan (Jeonbuk). Goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu (Al Shabab) is entrusted with guarding the net.
