[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] The Japanese government plans to impose anti-dumping duties for five years on 'hot-dip galvanized steel wire' produced in Korea and China.

According to Kyodo News on the 24th, the Ministry of Finance's Customs and Foreign Exchange Review Board decided at a meeting that day to impose anti-dumping duties ranging from 9.8% to 24.5% on Korean hot-dip galvanized steel wire and from 26.5% to 41.7% on Chinese products.

Hot-dip galvanized steel wire is used to make iron fences and rockfall prevention wire mesh.

Earlier, four Japanese companies submitted a petition to Japanese authorities in March last year, requesting the imposition of anti-dumping duties, claiming that Korean and Chinese companies exported hot-dip galvanized steel wire at low prices, causing losses by reducing their operating profits.
