[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LG Electronics announced on the 24th that Ryu Jaecheol, Vice President and Head of the H&A (Home Appliance & Air Solution) Business Division, has been promoted to President.

President Ryu was born in 1967, graduated from Busan Donga High School, earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University, and holds an MBA from the University of Illinois, USA.

He joined Geumseongsa in 1989 and is an expert in home appliances with experience in various fields such as research and development (R&D) and production. He is especially well-known for the 'washing machine drum.'

Since last year, he has served as the head of the H&A Business Division, contributing to increasing sales. He played a key role in LG Electronics surpassing Whirlpool in the U.S. to achieve the title of 'Global No.1 in Home Appliances.'
