[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Toyota Motor Korea continuously engages in social contribution activities to become a company loved by customers in the local community through its products, services, and social contribution efforts. Since 2012, it has held the "Love Kimchi Sharing" event for 11 years, where participants finish the annual activities of the "Toyota Weekend Farmer" program by making kimchi and donating it to the social welfare corporation "Anna's House."
"Anna's House" is a social welfare corporation that supports the self-reliance of socially vulnerable groups, including homeless-related welfare projects and youth shelters. The relationship between Toyota Motor Korea and Anna's House began in 2005. Since then, Toyota Motor Korea employees have participated annually in meal service volunteer activities for the homeless at Anna's House. They have donated a total of 280 million KRW to Anna's House.
Following volunteer activities and monetary donations, since 2012, Toyota Motor Korea has also held the "Love Kimchi Sharing" event at the end of each year, making kimchi and donating it to Anna's House. This is a participatory program where Toyota Weekend Farmers make kimchi to donate to marginalized neighbors. It is one of Toyota Motor Korea's representative social contribution activities that has continued for 11 years.
Since last year, the event has expanded in scale, with employees from nationwide Toyota and Lexus official dealers, Toyota Motor Korea employees, and Weekend Farmer families participating to make kimchi, which is then delivered to local welfare centers and the social welfare corporation "Anna's House," adding greater significance to the event.
This year, in cooperation with the Seoul Social Welfare Council, 18 tons (about 6,000 heads) of kimchi were made directly at 10 welfare centers and the social welfare corporation "Anna's House" across the country and delivered to 1,825 vulnerable households.
