[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] RaemongRaein continues to show strong performance. It appears that the news of the actor Song Joong-ki's starring work 'Jaebeoljip Maknae Adeul' ranking first in over 50 countries worldwide, including the United States, Brazil, and the United Kingdom, is influencing the stock price.
At 1:38 PM on the 24th, RaemongRaein was trading at 35,100 KRW, up 20.21% from the previous day.
According to OTT Rakuten Viki, as of the 23rd (local time), five days after the service launch, 'Jaebeoljip Maknae Adeul' ranked first in more than 50 countries across five continents including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and India. It is recording top rankings in most countries where the service is available, and its popularity is expected to increase over time.
Rakuten Viki is a U.S.-based video streaming service providing Asian dramas and movies. It offers services in over 190 countries worldwide, including the Americas and Europe.
SK Securities explained that the production cost of 'Jaebeoljip Maknae Adeul' was 35.2 billion KRW, and that SLL Jungang and RaemongRaein jointly own the IP. They expect a considerably high recoup rate by selling simultaneous broadcasting rights to overseas OTT platforms.
Previously, after it became known that despite the global success of 'Squid Game,' all additional profits were taken by Netflix rather than the Korean production companies, there was much debate.
