Hwasun-gun to Host 5·18 Commemorative Play 'Aeggunun Gwangdae' Performance

Hwasun-gun to Host 5·18 Commemorative Play 'Aeggunun Gwangdae' Performance

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyuk-jun] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 24th that it will hold the performance "One-Eyed Clown - A Promise on a Spring Day" at the Hanium Culture and Sports Center Jeokbyeok Hall on the 30th.

The play "One-Eyed Clown," which contains the sorrows and the desire for democracy of Gwangju in May 1980, is based on the true story of Lee Ji-hyun, who was injured at the site of the May 1980 struggle and became a democratic activist.

The performance addresses the previously taboo issue of the provincial government office basement.

It adds artistic elements such as dance and songs to the stories of high school student citizen soldiers and religious figures who were falsely accused as collaborators, who risked their lives fighting for democracy on the front lines.

The cast includes 10 performers such as actors Kim An-soon, Yoon Seok, Jung Yi-hyung, and Kim Jeong-gyu, and the running time is 60 minutes.

The performance is free to attend without a separate reservation and will be held twice at 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM.

This work, which conveys the truth and spirit of Gwangju, is expected to transform the sorrow of May into laughter and hope.
