[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Air Busan is starting to operate an eco-friendly themed "Eco Flight" to raise environmental awareness and lead sustainable growth.
On the 24th, Air Busan will operate flight BX747, departing from Incheon and arriving in Bangkok, as an Eco Flight with an environmental theme.
The Eco Flight was planned to minimize environmental pollution factors that may occur during aircraft operation for eco-friendly flying.
The flight will use an A321neo aircraft equipped with a high-efficiency new engine. The A321neo aircraft improves fuel efficiency by about 15% compared to the first-generation A321 aircraft, reducing carbon emissions by 5,000 tons annually, and is an eco-friendly aircraft with significantly reduced noise.
During flight preparation, the crew conducts briefing meetings using tablet PCs instead of printed paper materials.
Onboard, beverages are served in paper cups certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) instead of plastic cups, and when purchasing duty-free goods, eco-bags made by recycling hotel blankets are provided instead of the usual plastic bags.
Additionally, all passengers on this flight will be given slippers made from discarded fabric materials.
The new bird-utilized products loaded on this Eco Flight were produced in collaboration with "Eco in Blank," a social enterprise in Busan, through the Ministry of Environment's "Bird Utilization Industry Promotion Support Project."
Earlier this year, Air Busan collaborated with Eco in Blank to launch eco-friendly keyrings made from discarded crew carry-on bags and surfwear.
An Air Busan official said, "We are pleased to add a special touch to passengers' air travel with the first operation of the Eco Flight themed on eco-friendliness," and added, "Next year, we plan to operate Eco Flight services on domestic routes so that more people can experience Eco Flight."
Air Busan is actively carrying out various activities to promote environmental conservation and eco-friendly culture, including launching bird-utilized products made from discarded crew bags and aircraft seat covers, and volunteering for environmental cleanup at major tourist sites in Busan.
